NIMHD Sponsors Medical Care Supplement on Health IT to Address Disparities
The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) is sponsoring a Medical Care supplement on “Addressing Health Disparities through the Utilization of Health Information Technology.”
Original research papers focused on health information technologies (e.g. electronic health records, personal health records, e-prescribing, mobile tehnologies) and the science of understanding and improving minority health and reducing health disparities are invited. The research must focus on one or more minority or health disparity populations (i.e., African Americans/Blacks, Hispanics/Latinos, American Indians/Alaska Natives, Asians, Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific Islanders, socioeconomically disadvantaged populations, underserved rural populations, and sexual and/or gender minority populations). Special consideration will be given to innovative interventions and implementation research in clinical settings or communities that utilize health information technology (IT) and/or novel methodology (e.g., internet query-based measure) to reduce disparities and improve health outcome (e.g., biomedical or behavioral status or quality of life).
