Communities Invested in Healthy Life Trajectories of African American Boys
Our goal is to develop community coalitions to promote the well-being and future success of African American boys and other youth. Coalitions are in two locations–St. Paul, Minnesota and Birmingham, Alabama–and include parents, teachers, students, and community members. They are following the Communities that Care (CTC) model to fulfill their vision for the community. Members will identify community strengths and areas for improvement that will inform the community action plan. They will also collect data to evaluate how youth and families are benefiting from coalition activities.
St. PaulBirminghamWelcome!
The Hazel Park Community Coalition is collaboration between a local school, local community-based organizations, and the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. The coalition aims to strengthen relationships between students, teachers, caregivers and other community members to promote the well-being and future success of youth. Funding to initiate the coalition and evaluate its early work is provided by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. Coalition members are using the Communities that Care model to guide project activities.
